Franciscan Health Indianapolis has achieved certification for its cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification highlights the program's dedication to enhancing patient care standards and improving quality of life.
The program supports individuals with cardiovascular issues, such as heart attacks and coronary artery bypass graft surgery, as well as those with pulmonary conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory symptoms. It offers a combination of exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.
To receive this accreditation, Franciscan Health Indianapolis underwent a detailed application process requiring comprehensive documentation of its practices. The AACVPR Program Certification is a peer-review process that evaluates individual programs based on standards developed by AACVPR and related professional societies. The AACVPR Program Certification Committee reviews each application, with final certification granted by the AACVPR Board of Directors.
Since 2018, AACVPR has adopted an outcomes-based approach focusing on performance measurements that indicate meaningful results. Certified programs are recognized leaders in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation due to their advanced practices and proven high-quality patient care. The certification remains valid for three years.
