Franciscan Health Lafayette has announced its intention to construct a freestanding Emergency Department (ED) in West Lafayette. The new facility will be situated on Franciscan Health’s property at the intersection of US 52/231 and Cumberland Avenue. It is anticipated that nearly 40 full-time employees will staff the ED, with construction expected to commence later this year and conclude within two years.
"As West Lafayette continues to grow, there's a greater need for emergency services close to where many people live," stated Terry Wilson, president and CEO of Franciscan Health Western Indiana. "This project is a great chance for us to expand our presence in the Greater Lafayette area. With this new, modern emergency department, we'll be able to improve access to emergency care in this growing market, making it a valuable extension of our healthcare ministry."
The planned full-service Emergency Department will provide round-the-clock access to high-quality emergency care in a community-based setting. It will be staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and equipped with advanced imaging technologies such as CT scans, X-rays, and lab services.
The ED's location is just south of the under-construction Franciscan OrthoIndy Surgery Center. This center will feature an orthopedic clinic and surgery center along with providing orthopedic urgent care, physical therapy, and imaging services.
Franciscan Health has been an integral part of Greater Lafayette for 150 years, offering award-winning care across various services.
