Franciscan WorkingWell recently contributed the sponsorship proceeds from an employer solutions symposium to the Franciscan Health Foundation of Northern Indiana's Food Insecurity Program.
The event took place at Avalon Manor on September 12, 2024, and aimed to help employers find healthcare solutions. It attracted more than 130 attendees representing 75 companies.
Thanks to sponsors such as Apex Benefits, BD+A Health Informatics, Brown & Brown Insurance, Generate Sales and Marketing, and NIPSCO, the event was free for attendees. The surplus of $3,050 from these sponsorships was donated to the Foundation’s Food Insecurity Program.
"I would like to thank this year's symposium sponsorships as all proceeds went towards the Foundation's Food Insecurity Program Fund," said Tim Ross, director of employer solutions for Franciscan Alliance. "We are thrilled they generated over $3,000, which will significantly aid in our mission to feed hungry children and families in our community."
The Food Insecurity Program started in 2021 in Lake County through a partnership between the Franciscan Health Foundation of Northern Indiana and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. The program has three phases: Mobile Markets that provide food via drive-through events; Fresh Start Markets in Hammond and Crown Point where those in need can shop for free; and the Food Rx Program that offers specific foods to low-income individuals based on health needs identified through screenings and referrals.
"Tim approached me about directing this year's symposium sponsorships to the Foundation's Food Insecurity Program Fund, which was a very nice surprise," said Rick Peltier, executive director of the Franciscan Health Foundation of Northern Indiana. "The proceeds will help us feed more hungry children and families... Our Food Insecurity Program is 100% dependent on philanthropic gifts."
