Kenzie Brown's aspiration to become a nurse was sparked by her own experiences as a child receiving care from nurses after breaking her arm twice. Raised in Fowler, Indiana, Brown fulfilled her dream by graduating from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in May 2021 and now works at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.

Brown's journey was supported by a scholarship she received from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, which played a crucial role in helping her achieve her goal. She acknowledged the importance of the scholarship and the supportive community at the school during challenging times. "Nursing school is hard," said Brown. "In high school, I was a 4.0 (GPA) student and coming into nursing school and being whapped in the face with an exam is a challenge."

Brown was awarded the Gertrude Loeb Rosen Nursing Scholarship, established through donations inspired by nurses who impacted Loeb Rosen's life. Reflecting on this support, Brown stated, "I was proud to get a scholarship and it also is a big sigh of relief."

To continue funding scholarships and other initiatives, St. Elizabeth School of Nursing will host a Day of Giving on November 19, 2024. The event aims to raise funds for student scholarships, faculty support materials, technology needs, and more.

Brown emphasized the impact of donations: "One of the biggest ways to make a difference is by donating to the scholarships at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing for the students." She noted that contributions provide financial relief and foster community within the school.

The Day of Giving coincides with the Feast Day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, honoring her legacy as "mother of the poor" who dedicated her life to serving others.

St. Elizabeth School of Nursing offers an immersive education experience leading to both an RN diploma and a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from University of Saint Francis. The program is approved by Indiana State Board of Nursing and accredited by ACEN.
