Climate Hope Art Contest invites young artists with 'Planting Seeds of Hope' theme
UCC Minister for Environmental Justice, Rev. Brooks Berndt | blessedtomorrow.org

Details about the Climate Hope Art Contest for this year were revealed at the United Church of Christ's first Climate Action Commissioning Service meeting on January 8. The theme for this year's contest is "Planting Seeds of Hope."

Children and youth from UCC are encouraged to create art that embodies this theme through drawing, painting, or coloring. Submissions will be accepted starting February 2 until March 14.

Charlotte L., last year's winner from Glenside United Church of Christ in Pennsylvania, attended the meeting and motivated others to engage in climate justice efforts. The meeting also featured a retrospective look at previous entries.

The Rev. Brooks Berndt, minister for UCC’s Environmental Justice, expressed his thoughts: “When it comes to social change, many of us know what we are against and what we want. The challenge is getting from one to the other. We need our attention drawn to the seeds of hope in the present that will inspire us to continue on that path. I am excited to see the imaginative and talented art that our children and youth will create as they lift the spirits of all of us.”
