Franciscan Health will continue to host a weekly farmers market on the south side of Indianapolis this summer. The market offers the community access to fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables.

The event is scheduled for Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting June 4 and running through September 24. It will be held in the parking lot of the Franciscan medical office building at 5230 East Stop 11 Road, opposite the Franciscan Health Indianapolis hospital campus.

This year, the Community Health Improvement team from Franciscan will manage the market. The team also organizes various community events and operates the Fresh Start Market Pantry in Greenwood.

The market features products grown in Central Indiana, including fresh produce and other locally sourced items. "We are very excited to continue the tradition of the Franciscan farmers market on the south side of Indianapolis," said Stacey Fink, a community health specialist at Franciscan Health. "The vendors are always very enthusiastic and enjoy getting to meet our neighbors from the community who frequent the farmers markets. Having the option to purchase healthy items, especially produce, is a great benefit to the community."

Since its inception in 2016, when it started as a small venue for fruits and vegetables, the farmers market has expanded significantly. It now includes baked goods, arts and crafts, coffee, fresh flowers, and soaps with vendors coming from across central Indiana. All vendors are certified and licensed with the Marion County Board of Health.
